How many times does a student go up to a teacher and say, “Billy was hitting me!” “Well, did you ask him to please stop?” I would say as a teacher. “Well, no.” Very often kids can solve their own conflicts by showing more respect for one another and by saying please and thank you.
Also how many times does a teacher say “Billy, go up to the board and write down the answer.” This shows a general disprespect for the student. It sounds more like a drill sergeant than a teacher. “Billy, please would you come up to the board” shows much more respect for the student.
Lets face it, the world is going to heck, and the
basic old fashined principles are needed more then ever in our society. No person is better than another. Let’s hold the door for one another. Let’s say please and thank you. Let’s treat others as we would like to be treated.
